Jesus, I’ve been consciously aware of the fact that I’ve fallen into this exact trap, again. Honestly didn’t really know if others were trapped in the same cycle.
For me, the issue is that there’s no viable counterpart to many of the reddit communities I used to enjoy. There’s more general lots, sure, but so few that actually touch base on the same familiar level.
when i switched to lemmy, many communities i was into at reddit, did not exist or have very little posts. over time i discovered other communities and am less online in general. it is a getting used to it, but overall a net positive.
lemmy has a lot of the same look and feel. but they are not the same.
