Check the sidebar - this is /c/childfree
I’m guessing you came here from All and didn’t seek out this community specifically?
Scrolling through All provides a glimpse into the variety the Fediverse offers. Even when I find a community I don’t agree with or care to hear about, I can simply block it. Meanwhile, I’m glad that those who do value those topics have a place to discuss things.
Which is all to say that those who feel strongly about being childfree deserve their space to talk about it, regardless of your feelings toward their opinions. This is their space, and nobody’s forcing you to be here.
The amount of people not checking the sidebar of communities before they post is fucking wild. Apparently getting some context before diving in is too much effort, or they just prefer learning the hard way.
To their defense, not sure how good all the apps display sidebars
Or even displaying what community you’re commenting in.
I’d be surprised if more than 5% of people actually read the sidebar.

I’m sorry, but how did this post explain how the fediverse works?
Let me take a stab at explaining how the fediverse works.
The fediverse is a loose collection of communities with different rules and values that freely decide to share content with each other. These communities foster different opinions. The choice to freely associate with other communities is the antithesis to echo chambers, meaning we don’t go around with an attitude of “that kind of thought doesn’t happen here”.
One of today’s lucky 10,000.
I really appreciate the response, we don’t have to be unkind when it’s our turn to try and help educate someone.
