  • If you’re not in dire financial straits, definitely start keeping at least a week of shelf-stable food on hand. More is better, but everyone’s situation is different of course. Especially valuable would be things that can be enjoyed cold and with minimal preparation, this is important for people on the move.

Having the supplies is just part of the equation of a Supplier, the more important aspect is that other people who are more at risk and have to lay low don’t have to risk themselves by buying from stores or stealing.

Also start saving cash on hand. A lot of people rely on electronic payments nowadays but that can easily be shut off or tracked for targeted individuals.

  • This is kind of where I’m at. I don’t imagine any amount of cash in a bank account is going to prepare us for what’s to come. Even if you could put money aside, the money you typically put towards retirement might just be better off towards becoming a doomsday prepper. Probably wouldn’t save you either way, but it may buy you a little time that you wouldn’t have otherwise.

Like others have said, I imagine my “retirement” as bearing witness to the collapse of modern society and ultimately dying in some lousy brawl with other desperate refugees, or by some untreated bacterial infection.
