I use wireless charging at night and at work. I have a stand that charges my phone, ear buds, and watch simultaneously, which replaces three cables with one and keeps my nightstand/desk free of clutter. I use cables only when I need to charge quickly.

This makes me wonder if DOGE is going after disability payments - I think it’s called SSI? I always thought that social security, SSI, and all of those programs were the same thing, but it seems like it’s a lot more complicated. I know a couple folks who have life-long disabilities and have never been able to work. Without those payments they would just die I guess.

I’m using a Samsung Odyssey Ark and use PIP or PBP to have my desktop and work laptop displayed together. No matter what I try, text becomes illegible on Windows in this mode, but it works flawlessly in Linux.

It worked for me. I was convinced to switch to Linux after joining Lemmy and I’m blown away every day at how much better it works. It’s just faster, smoother, and even has better compatibility with my monitor.

I’m on the top floor of a poorly-insulated midrise, and summers are absolutely miserable. I have a window AC in the bedroom, otherwise it’s all ceiling fans and ice packs. I bought a few “pillow insert cooling pads” (basically a Chillow) and just put them on my neck or in my shirt during the day. Frozen water bottles also help.

Trans people

That’s absolutely true. I transitioned over a decade ago and have never had a problem until Republicans randomly decided that trans people were a target recently. A buddy of mine transitioned 35 years ago and he’s in absolute pieces over the state of the country right now. He was harassed just yesterday while taking a walk, because he’s out and proud in the neighborhood. I’m absolutely terrified to see how bad this will get.

One man’s transphobia and horrible parenting is tearing this country to pieces. This is the worst possible timeline. I can’t even begin to imagine what his daughter is feeling right now.

Agreed, and to add to this, I grew up in farmland and have never met a broke farmer. These folks are typically quite wealthy thanks to massive government subsidies. Huge modern home, brand new cars, plenty of toys like ATVs. They’re not living the same life as the standard working class.

I think the difference is that you’re an intellectually capable person. I remember reading that a person of very low IQ is simply unable to imagine anything different than their perceived reality. If you asked a very low IQ person how they would feel right now if they hadn’t eaten breakfast, they wouldn’t be able to provide an answer beyond “What do you mean? I did eat breakfast.”

I think about this a lot when I see people parrot talking points from Fox News without being able to intellectually explain any nuances or create any new information from what they’ve heard.
