69·4 days agoAs I haven’t seen this mentioned so far: Be sure that you both learn the language.
Seen a lot of posts in other immigration heavy subs/communities where people move to europe and don’t make any effort on learning the local language, and then are surprised/depressed that they can’t find any friends or jobs

it works like this:
@privateuser@mastodon.example.comhas a “followers only account”.@someuser@pixelfed.example.comis a friend of above account, requested access and was granted. This now causesmastodon.example.comto push all messages of@privateusertopixelfed.example.com.@anotheruser@pixelfed.example.comrequests access, but gets ignored. But the pixelfed instance marks the user as “follows@privateuser”- In the interface of
@someuser, the messages are shown as expected. - In the interface of
@anotheruser, they are also shown. Because PF basically does a database “select messages of users that the user follows”, without checking if the access was ever granted.
Important to note, that this would not happen, if the messages weren’t already pushed to the server due to the “allowed” user
ActivityPub is a half-assed unfinished mess.
tried working on my own service and figured this one out very fast.
It’s amazing that it works at all. 98% of the stuff is not documented at all. and the stuff that is, can hardly be called documentation.

2·9 days agoalso, soooo many people will just ignore power usage bills, which can be quite substantial in some areas. Running my oven for an hour straight is not exactly cheap

how is the build quality of the t480? I had a t580 for work, and that one crashed when you picked it up at thr wrong corner. and after a month over the warranty, it completely died
