  • IANAL but I really doubt you can’t patent a game mechanic. Have you noticed the amount of “D&D clone” which aren’t SRD version but do use D20, classes, and level rather than original game mechanics?

You can’t come with an infinity of games mechanics and even assuming it’s legal to patent (I doubt-it) there is tons of previous art which would make the patent invalid. Even a very inovative game like Blade in the Dark re-use tons of concept from other games like reputation score, partial success, dice pools or clocks

  • if I were to become a citizen of the UK, or Germany, or France, I would not feel comfortable using the term British, German, or French to describe myself. Because those words are not just nationalities, but also ethnicities.

From a french perspective, What you said about French being a naitonality and a ethnicity sounds pretty racist, like the kind of things that Le Pen thinks but doesn’t dare to say too loud. France bragg a lot about every french citizen is equal and fully french (well we do have racist cunt so it’s not fully true, but it’s not the thing people would claim in public)

  • Something that is very easy to forget is that stock value is only very loosely tied to actual company value. Stock value is based on what people are prepared to pay for the stock, not what the company is worth.

Which IMO is a real problem in Tech companies If I look at more traditional industries, A coca-cola stock gives me ~ 0.50 US$ per quarter, so with an expected yield of 3% I am ready to buy a stock at US$ 66. and the current market value is US$ 68, if I do the same exercise for Airbus with 2 EUR of regular divident and 2 EUR of exceptional dividend and that I expect a 3% yield, I would pay 133 EUR for an airbus stock, for a market value of 166. A worse investment than Coca-cola, but still a decent one especially considering the raise of the military companies.

And then there is tech company giving no dividend and using stock buyback (How is that even legal) to keep the company value artificially high.

  • There is tons of legit way to exercise, and lifting weight in a gym isn’t the only way. It may be worth looking at sports clubs in your town, no matter you want to practice Karate, volley ball or even rock dancing these are fun and legit way to exercise. They also tend to be more social than fitness gym which helps with motivation.

Now regarding what you can do at home, depending what you call home. A fitness mat and a rubber band can bring you far. Body weight training does work too. While not strictly at home running is fun too, and goes from beginner who alternate one minute running and one minute running to people preparing Ultra Marathon

  • Sure maps and miniatures are fun but some systems don’t need them, some players are perfectly fine with the theatre of the mind play, or some small toys on a self drawn grid on sheet paper can work.

Some big streamers have done massive damage to she hobby by bringing the image that map and miniatures are necessary, and not at best a nice to have, at worst a distraction.

Sure I use sometimes a sketch on paper, but very rarely miniatures, and never accurate ones. Role-playing game isn’t about miniatures
