I live in a red town in a blue state. It is sustained by government projects and has been expanding based on the security of those projects since around 1943. Most anyone with any money is either in construction, real estate, or government work. A large portion of our population are aging and/or veterans. You would think there would be some concern. It’s possible there is, but all I experience from them is increasing hostility for increasingly absurd reasons.

I don’t feel like I try to do things correctly or try do good things for nothing. Maybe those are the only things that will get done right today, maybe everyone around me will fuck me over for trying to be decent. But the right way is there for anyone to take that can find it, and good has never existed outside of our minds and hearts. I have to try and I have to try to be good so that I know someone is trying and that good exists. Even if it is imperfect or doesn’t change anything else, it changes me.

I think you’ll find a situation where one of Trump’s sons becomes the president after his death, but that the presidency remains effectively “owned” by Musk the whole time.
