I think the idea is for your mail client to translate your Markdown into HTML before sending. To convince the whole world’s email ecosystem to directly support Markdown would be an impossibly large lift given that HTML is already virtually universally supported.

I think a few people have created their own locked (meaning only mods can post) Lemmy communities to use as their own personal blog. It’s worth noting that every Lemmy community has an RSS feed link.

The military-industrial complex doesn’t need to cover up weapons testing with little green men conspiracy theories, because people susceptible to crackpot alien theories pose no threat or obstacle to them. I think those theories are largely self-inflicted.

You really need to specify what state you’re talking about and when. If you’re talking about a capitalist state, then the answer is the capitalist class runs it. If you’re talking about the US specifically, then I’ll recycle my previous answer:

Some of those that work forces are the same that burn crosses. For the most part, it’s fascists who form these militias, and quite a few of them are cops and military from 9–5. These people are not against “tyranny,” they’re for their own fascist brand of tyranny.
