Green flags: a technology that is actually novel or useful. Monero is wonderful for privacy. Nano is great for microtransactions (see NanoGPT). Ethereum is great for smart contracts. Stablecoins are a good currency replacement in hyperinflation countries where there’s no better alternative. Crypto is a fantastic advancement of finance technology. Please don’t see them (all) as scams. I would argue don’t see them as investments at all.

Why do you think the article is upset at Vance? He should have said “We borrow money from them to buy the things they manufacture.” Mentioning ethnicity or the word peasant is clearly racist. Even if he wanted to drive it home, he could have said “We borrow money from these victims of slavery…” but it wouldn’t have made any sense of course that way. It was racist.

They are victims, not “peasants” or “serfs”.

They are pretty conservative now though. It sounds liberal but they slip misinformation and doubt in to make everyone more moderate. Plus sensational claims that lend credibility to right wing critique. That shit works like a charm on my parents, they’ll say “we hate Trump. But you have to admit Joe Biden wasn’t fit for office, he had classic early dementia… Kamala just didn’t seem experienced enough”. They voted Democrat but there’s more doubt and misinformation now, they’re smart people too ☹️

Misinformation is one helluva drug.

I swear Reddit has bots/trolls/AI designed to argue and rile you up to increase engagement. We see it in reposts/titles, why not in the comments?

Sometimes they literally just are. Not seen it on Lemmy but on Reddit I definitely interacted with users, age under 1 year, all suspiciously pro-Putin. It’s rare and I’m looking for it, but still.

There is a precedent for lawlessness. Literally anything is constitutional now, you just do it and ignore the court ruling. Where have you been the last decade?

Agreed the problem was baked in during the Ohio Compromise and at other times, it has nothing to do with population size because we’re talking about a small number of elites, not popular will.

This IS what fighting back looks like. It takes many forms.
