  • That’s not what their roots are, that’s the branches that became prevalent in every one mentioned (Judaism least of all, but with the state of Israel existing there are attempts to make Jewish religion suck just as badly as others).

Say, gnostic sects of Christianity and Judaism had this sometimes inverted, sometimes different from how you describe it. Natural world was considered wonderful, but bigger than our existence, in some, and the way to divine was to take off your mortal existence, like clothes, and embrace it in full. In Judaism it’s almost mainstream that natural sexuality is good and actually sacred when in marriage, and only outside of marriage is it bad, but not on the degree of murder or theft.

I’m not very knowledgeable on Islam, but I think even Shia Islam is not so cruel on that part, though since Iran is Shia, I guess nobody will believe me. Alawis being massacred right now have a pretty tolerant to life religion, and Druze too, though they have that weird relationship with death similar to Latin American Catholics. Smaller branches like Nizari-Ismaili are very tolerant. It’s just that Islamic mainstream of today is barbaric genocidal Wahhabism or Salafism, and generally Sunni Islam is not nice.

My point was - restrictive rules correlate somehow with strong organization, so such branches win the struggle for power.

  • Endorsing a libertarian for president seems to be a contradictory statement, if it implies that a libertarian tries to run for president.

I mean, ok, there is a loophole in beliefs so to say, that non-libertarian politics may not be just or obligatory or possess that legal sacredness non-libertarians attribute them, but participating in those is not contradictory to being a libertarian. Even running for president still calling yourself a libertarian.

I suppose in USA the last pic is true. In Russia libertarians are mostly teenagers and adults of teenager mentality, and also the only real category of lone gloomy types not interested in activism and such.

  • You think she did what she did with a guy 3 times her age because he was charismatic? It’s because he was the president.

Generally you would be right, but it seems Clinton really did have the kind of charisma to attract women almost unnaturally, long before he became the guy 3 times her age and a president.

I feel like I’m rambling but there’s so many obvious ways this was problematic, and you’re still just fucking ok with it?

No, just everything is relative, and some bad things are solved at the expense of other bad things.

But the big deal was Bill lying under oath to Congress about it, and Dem politicians and voters closed ranks and said it didn’t matter.

    That’s what I said.

There’s not really an excuse to not learn about it now, political literacy literally saves lives. We need more informed voters.

LOL, I live in a country where most of the populace doesn’t understand what was wrong with mass repressions. They think some bad rich people were the majority of victims, and not typical Ukrainian and Siberian farmers. And of course they don’t understand that the government is not the property of its employees and politicians in power.

You have a long way to fall to reach that. But all those idiots were sufficiently informed. They chose to believe something worse.
