Damn, what’s the power draw on that thing?

Take any action movie and really focus on those kills, especially when it’s with melee weapons instead on guns. Don’t even need to go full splatter movie, just actually show the violence that’s happening in great detail and with maybe some amount of realism (people rarely die in one blow, and bladed weapons can get stuck in bodies)(obviously that doesn’t work as well for sci-fi and superhero movies). There are going to be a lot of turned stomachs.
A lot of spy movies, just don’t fade to black when there’s torture.
Yeah. Someone has to put in the work for packaging an application if you want it as a .deb/.rpm etc. package and deal with any bugs that might come up, and it’s not going to be me (speaking as a user, not a developer).
That said, I also painted myself into a corner when it comes to harddrive space. LUKS can be complicated, man …
It’s usually a good thing to diversify. What happens when one of you falls ill or just dies unexpectedly, or have a fight? It’s easier to find more friends right now than when you have literally no friends and just lost a parent. On top of that, any kind of emotional labor can get pretty exhausting for both people when it’s just the two of you.
The far right national government certainly isn’t good, but you’re right that it’s probably not that far off from most other big european countries right now. Definitely research the specific region you’re moving to, there are often extremely large differences between regions in european countries when it comes to political leanings, general tolerance and economic opportunities and it’s not always as clear-cut as “big cities good, countryside bad” or “north good, south bad”.
Considering the way MAGA voters act …
Yeah, that’s fair. They certainly don’t make it easy to vote in USA, which is deliberate to a large extent. Easy to forget.
I think it was the votes of less than a third of eligible voters that made Trump 2.0 a reality, roughly another third just behind it, with the remainder not bothering to vote at all. I would say the often fantasized silent majority is actually not pro Trump.
That means that a third didn’t bother, though, despite Trump very much being a known quantity. The exact reason why they didn’t vote is up to debate and it’s probably several reasons at once (these people are not a monolith), but it doesn’t say any good things about them or the political system.
Anti-intellectualism has a certain tradition in the USA, it’s kind of well-known.
A German perspective: I think Germans have always been this stupid, they’re mostly just more willing to say the quiet part out loud than they were between 1970 and 2014 (rough estimate). The difference is that the far right extremists have a popular platform now, and the mainstream parties refuse to ban either the far right party or all the media (X, Facebook, local tabloid press etc.) that’s pushing them. If this party had been around in 1960, it would definitely have been banned.
There is SearXNG, it’s open source and decentralized but AFAIK the different instances don’t really share information between them. I’m personally interested in trying it, but I’m apprehensive about the fact that it’s really hard to know whether a particular instance is trustworthy, and while it’s possible I don’t think it makes much sense to host it myself.
Twitter screenshots and a tumblr user celebrating that people get made fun of for trying to be a little fashionable. This kinda sucks …
A 16:9 screen is basically two squares side by side, so instead of making a big square they can just make the landscape monitor bigger until it’s large enough that you can comfortable view two documents side-by-side. I definitely prefer 16:10 or 3:2, though.
