      “Behavior reform schools” aka places parents ship their kids off too when they don’t know how to parent their kid with behavioral issues. Then those facilities psychologically and sometimes physically torment these kids until they learn to “behave”.

        actual it’s worse because target the most basic of problems that any adolescent could have

        “Low self-esteem and identity struggles” “Difficulty trusting or connecting with others” “Trouble making and maintaining friendships” “Family, peer, and social conflicts”

          Send abusive kids off to camp with vulnerable kids, stick them in a cabin and say goodnight? Sounds like a recipe for disaster.

          Yeah I’m remembering now when my sister went that a few of her peers were simply shy or just queer

    The owner of Asheville Academy had a nature-based residential therapy program for boys closed by North Carolina officials last year. The license for Trails Carolina in Transylvania County was revoked after a 12-year-old boy was found dead in a cabin in February 2024, the day after he arrived.

      The wilderness based camps are some of the worst of these facilities. A lot of times they force them to camp in horrible weather conditions with little to no supplies. A number of kids have died at these camps
