I went to a microbiology conference a decade agothat was talking about creating novel proteins using algorithms. “AI” is a just a marketing buzzword that is meant to attract morons with MBA’s
AlphaFold is not a LLM. When people say AI they often mean LLMs and not NPC AI, or other types of neural networks or machine learning algorithms in general.
Too many Ai apologists and cult members around these days.

This specific case does seem to be using AI as opposed to classical algorithms and did see an incredible boost in efficiency.
