The thing is, Trump is the legitimate ruler (I won’t say leader) of the USA. He didn’t conceal his cruelty, his ignorance, and his plans for the country. Most Americans who cared enough to express their opinion asked for that cruelty and ignorance, and the chaos we’re seeing now is simply democracy in action.

(Trump is attacking that democracy, but that’s also something the majority asked for. Why should the USA’s former democratic values be imposed on a people that rejects them?)

It really bugs me when I see people say that a majority of Americans support this, because they don’t.

His policies are consistently polling negatively.

A minority of Americans even bother to vote, so the results of the election aren’t entirely representative of the opinions and viewpoints of the majority of Americans.

He didn’t even win a majority of votes in the election. He won with 49%, a plurality.

This isn’t “most Americans”. It’s a passionate minority that is ruling over the majority because of a broken system.

I see this argument being made all the time to try and lessen the reality of what happened. This is the fact the majority of people voted or choose not to vote against an Orange Nazi of a turd for president. The majority of people are directly responsible for this piece of shit in office. You need to face this reality and stop trying to bullshit us.

49.8%, but 50.8% of those voters who didn’t lodge a protest vote. I have more respect for the protestors than for the people who didn’t vote at all (they literally don’t count for anything) but the protesters still had something to do on election day which they thought was more important than helping determine who would be the next President.

As for his policies polling negatively: I don’t care, unless they’re policies that he didn’t campaign on. (And even in that case, the voters still chose the dangerously unpredictable candidate.) Frankly, I have more respect for those Republicans who are happy with what’s going on than for the ones experiencing buyer’s remorse. At least they’re good at being bad, rather than grossly negligent.

With that said, I do think it’s funny that if only about 0.8% of the voters had chosen otherwise then my assessment of the American national character would be dramatically different. I admit that I’m not entirely rational about this.

He repeatedly denied supporting Project 2025, and that’s exactly what he’s been implementing. Start caring

IDK why folks seem to think most Americans aren’t supportive of him, they are. If they weren’t they’d be doing something about it. I’m surrounded by majority Republican voters and they love what trump is doing. They rub it in to me all the time. Let’s face it, us Americans are vile selfish people.

Curious what part of the US you live in. I think it varies depending on the region whether people let their Trump flag fly. I find it’s mostly rural areas that are so proud of their “dear leader”.

The American people in the majority are supporting this human piece of shit in office. Do not do anything to lessen the destruction they are going to reap.

It’s because they’re not. He didn’t even win a majority of people who actually voted, which itself is only roughly half of eligible voters.

So we’re looking at a quarter of the population who even bothered to do something to support him, and those actions have since been losing those people as the obvious consequences bite them in the ass
