Rep. Victoria Spartz (R-IN) might be wishing she had taken Speaker Mike Johnson’s (R-LA) advice not to hold town hall meetings after she got booed and cursed at a town hall event in Westfield, Indiana, on Friday. […] People in the central Indiana towns shouted things like, “You’re a f**king liar!” and “Do your job!” at Spartz, who has made a name for herself as one of the more far-right members of Congress.

This woman is a Ukrainian national, no less. How in the hell can she justify any of this bullshit and sleep at night?

Did you catch that bit she said about due process? HFS

MAGA lawmaker repeatedly booed by angry crowd paid actors at town hall as she defends Elon Musk

A person can make a mistake, realize they were wrong, and change their mind. This is the basis of personal growth. Insults are not an appropriate response. This only promotes division when you should be looking for allies.

I’ve always felt we’re being too hard on these people. While I’m sure some genuinely align with Trump’s paper thin ideologies, most are just average people that were duped by propaganda.

I know how that feels. I almost went down that rabbit hole during the Obama era.

Far right politicians are not mindless dupes. They are self-centeredly hopping onto whatever bandwagon they think will best further their personal interest. They are not fooled, they are malicious. They may be only thinking of their immediate self but they are helping build a larger combined evil. If they had any empathy or morals, any backbone, this would not happen. The thing is that simple greed for power should fuel many of our checks and balances but these people can’t even stand up for that. They deserved to be booed and then some.

That’s different from voters, many of whom might be low information and/or manipulated by misinformation, echo chambers and peer pressure. You’re right that a more constructive approach could help them
