A federal judge on Tuesday ordered the Trump administration to halt its efforts to arrest and deport a 21-year old Columbia University student who participated in pro-Palestinian demonstrations until the court says otherwise.

The administration has been seeking to arrest the student, Yunseo Chung, since earlier this month, according to a lawsuit filed by Ms. Chung’s lawyers.

The judge, Naomi Buchwald, said during a hearing on Tuesday that “nothing in the record” indicated that Ms. Chung posed a danger to the community or a “foreign-policy risk” or had communicated with terrorist organizations.

Ms. Chung is a legal permanent resident. She was not a prominent participant in demonstrations on Columbia’s campus; she was arrested along with several other students this month at a protest at Barnard College, the Manhattan university’s sister school.

But, no kind of punishments right? These “legal residents” want the best of both worlds. They want to cause chaos on campuses, protest a country that gave them a better life, and then cry that they don’t deserve to be punished. It’s ridiculous. Go to any other country on Earth and do the things these students did, and see how long you last…

People claim to support the Constitution and then say dumb shit like this. Try reading it. It’s not very long. It very clearly spells out that everybody in the country has rights, and that one of this rights is the right to peacefully protest. You’re even exercising that same right by arguing that they shouldn’t have these rights. But they do. And the second you try to take that away from them, what’s to stop a dictator on the other side from deciding that you don’t deserve the right to disagree with your government anymore, and so cops will be authorized to break into your home and kidnap you and deport you to a country you’ve never been to.

Any argument you have about how that isn’t the same thing is just going to cement how xenophobic and racist you are, so instead of bothering to reply, just sit with your thoughts and figure out what you can do differently moving forward to develop some amount of empathy and critical thinking skills to not advocate for things to get shitty for everybody in the long term. It’s possible to grow and improve, and I’m rooting for you.

The constitutions also says the POTUS and the federal government have broad authority over immigration matters. Trump is doing what’s in his power…and both sides are going to disagree because the Left (you) want all these non-citizens to have rights. While the Right (Me) want him to do exactly what he said he was going to.

Step 1: proclaim that immigrants no longer have rights.

Step 2: accuse person(s) you don’t like of being an immigrant.

Step 3: because immigrants don’t have rights, due process is not given.

Step 4: accuse person(s) of literally anything you feel like and order whatever sentence you decide is appropriate since an accusation is now also a conviction.

Are you getting it yet? Or will it have to target you specifically before you give a shit?

ILLEGAL immigrants… let’s not confuse the two. I know your side is great at doing that. This isn’t about “who I like” it’s about enforcing the law. Just because you hold a card, or a “status” as some kind of immigrant, it doesn’t mean your immune to deportation. If the government deems you’ve abused your status, they can deport, just like any other government from any other country in the world. The reason we’re in this mess is because of people like you, that want all these rights and privileges given to non-citizens, so that it gets tied up for YEARS, and those illegal immigrants end up in the system…literally, with nothing happening. Next thing you know, they’re being deported and the left starts crying.

Lol okay, keep not understanding. You aren’t putting together that rescinding rights guaranteed to people means that all you need to do is claim that somebody is in that group that doesn’t get rights and they no longer have rights to things like a trial. I could literally just call you an illegal immigrant and you’d never get the opportunity to prove otherwise because you wouldn’t have the right to anymore.

As for the “ILLEGAL immigrants” thing, there’s a difference between civil offenses and criminal offenses. If you don’t even know that, then idk where you get off thinking you get to lecture anybody about how laws work. I’m sorry to say that you’re just flat out fucking wrong about this. Quit parroting what partisan media is spoon-feeding to you and look shit up for yourself. They benefit by convincing you to accept the bullshit that they’re selling. Be more skeptical. Any time you see something on media, ask yourself who is benefiting from the message they’re sending out.

Who cares about other countries. The law is the law here. For everyone.

You don’t like it, that’s fine. But your feelings don’t matter to the law.
