Ive always found it a little strange that the law and insurance companies and human society in general is hyperfocused with finding a scapegoat to blame and persecute. People die sometimes just because of shit happening outside of anyone’s control but we’ve gotta dig for someone to pin blame on. Someones parachute didn’t work right that day? Its the parachute makers or the safety inspectors or the airplane owners who are to blame and not random unavoidable small chance of statistical failure rates. Gotta sue sue sue!

Essentially I had to call myself out in an inner monologue.

Over the course of two years taking care of my foster niece and nephew weve had some rough days. Tantruming, nasty attitude, refusal do basic hygiene things like wipe their ass and flush, stuff like that. Ive had to square the fact that I cannot hold children to my high standards of behavior or hold grudes against them for their worst moments.

At some point early on in a moment of extreme anger where my blood was fucking boiling and my mind overflowing with angry thoughts I just had this sudden realization that I am self righteous prick getting mad at stuff i myself was probably guilty of as defiant little shit too. So stop taking dumb animal child shit so personally and go relax.

Its kind of weird just being forced to self analyze the worst aspects of yourself and calling out your own nonesense. I now understand I have the bad personality traits of being self righteous and quick to get upset over insubordination. These are things I need to overcome if I ever want to healthily raise a child of my own. I dont want to be an imposing tyrant god-king to my kids the same way my father was to me only to continue the cycle of resentment. At the same time, as a parent you have to sometimes impose your will on a unwilling child to make them do what they need to so its a hard balance.

So thank you, me, for choosing to be an intelligent, introspective, and continuously re-evaluating higher thinking being with a desire to be a better version of myself instead of resorting to self deceptive mental complexes for ego protection.

No there is no way to definitively say whether the image you are looking at is AI generated. There are many tells like hands, background objects bleeding into each other, lighting shadows, and a general ‘vibe check’ is often good enough. But there is no secret watermark or pattern unique to all stable diffusion generated images or anything like that.

I was going to say it sounds like linux mint would be your dream OS its stable and bullet proof. Download everything through package manager if you really need up to date program flatpaks or appimages have you covered. Never have the computer force an update on you or change things around again. Both my elderly parents use LM every day for years not one complaint after I set everything up for them with like web app shortcuts to banks and stuff. In the winter my home can go down into the 40F-50F range with all available heating running on full. Even with electric blankets its better to layer up with thermal underwear, hats, coats, three layers of pants, and gloves.

My mom says she can’t stand a bunch of fabric on her which I guess is fair. I personally can’t stand freezing to death while I sleep myself so its a fair trade.

The mouse utopia experiment but on humans. Ive always seen a subset of people who bemoan having to work or develop specialized skills to contribute to society. They want everything provided for them so their whole life can be leasure and comfort. A lot of socialism and communism selling points tend to be about having social services and things provided to you.

I’m interested to see the long term affects of people in a society where EVERYTHING is provided for you all the time. Every survival concern, sexual pleasure, every base urge, every whim and desire. For decades and decades and decades. Would it be a genuine good for society or would it be a monkeys paw situation?

Ive always hypothesized that any human society that attempts this will quickly erode into something similar to the mouse utopia.

Without any environmental pressures or meaningful challenges to overcome a large portion of the population without strong internal drives will become lethally/suicidally lazy, apathetic, and narcicistic

I suspect theres a large amount of people who simply have zero internal drives to apply themselves to doing a thing unlesd they have to. without the pressure of survival in either a physical or economic way they would simply sit on their ass, jerk off, play games, and maybe groom themselves, for decades until they die. Merit and overcoming challenge are important aspects of drive and dopamine generation. You deprive a person of those things they become lethargic. If that sentiment proves itself true it will be a hard pill to swallow for a lot of ideologies.

Unethical questions:

Statistically speaking, how many people would escelate their wants to socially taboo depravities? How quickly?

How long on average would it take for pleasure to become less meaningful in the face of instant gratification? Is there a logarithmic function that charts this?

How many people on average decide to begin self harm out to seek novel sensations? How long until onset?

How many people choose to live out a full life vs taking the placebo cyanide capsule and being removed from experiment? What would their reasonings be?

I’m not sure the smaller Lemmy servers running on a pi or resident internet upload could handle the equal sizable fraction of .world . it would be interesting to calculate how many users total on Lemmy divided by how many public joinable instances and see the averages or which servers are forced to scale the most.

This would take away complete user freedom to choose the server they want which is controversial.
