If he’s anything like me, he got too ambitious on lemmyverse, then got anxiety every time he logged in because of all the different messages and mod shit to take care of, so he just stopped logging in, then got bored and created a new account where he’s not as ambitious.

I find that hilarious since he and I would get into it quite often and I always found his points to be quite juvenile or superficial (like ignoring 99% of what you say and latching on to one single thing to derail the conversation or make a strawman), but I did respect him for having mod powers and never deleting my comments or banning me in retaliation no matter how heated things got.

Last I heard he moved to the UK because of Trump and was trying to get his family over so he’s probably got his hands full without the near constant presence on Lemmy that he had. I do find it hard to believe that he isn’t still around under another account though with how much time he spent here.

The mod log is one of the most amazing features of Lemmy and yet it’s soooo neglected it’s painful to look at.

I’m not convinced someone would rage quit over a one day ban?

Yeah it was just the last thing in the mod log. Maybe the straw that broke the camel’s back? “I’ll take my fresh/spicy takes somewhere else then!”

I think he had it by birthright but just had to claim it/exercise it. So technically in the eyes of the law he was always British. But that doesn’t change the fact he chose to exercise it

This is @FlyingSquid@lemmy.world, for those not familiar; he moderated a number of communities and was a fairly-active poster and commenter, but hasn’t commented in three months.

Last I recall seeing from him, he’d said that he’d moved to the UK and was looking for a job. I assume that if he didn’t find a job, then he probably doesn’t want to be spending a lot of time doing volunteer work moderating communities on the Threadiverse; got higher-priority concerns. If he did find a job, then his free time may have fallen off substantially; switching countries, switching housing, and getting a new job are all things that are probably going to consume time.

That basically mirrors my understanding. I dropped off Lemmy for a few months after the election. When I dipped my toes back in the Lemmy pool I was able to gather from bits and pieces he got approved for a visa and was moving to the UK. He was still posting regularly but seems to dropped of pretty suddenly 3 months ago

        https://lemmy.today/post/24224665

I’m staying in an apartment temporarily

That was four months ago. I’m assuming from that that he was intending to do to do an additional move in the UK, so maybe multiple moves, which probably eats even more time.

EDIT: And it sounds like he was job-hunting as of four months ago:

        https://lemmy.today/post/24150012/14308219

I told a member of an LGBT organization in York, UK that I would be happy for any help I can get regarding finding me a job above the UK family visa income threshold so my gay daughter can stay here longer than six months after he offered to look over my CV and give me pointers… for the glory of the empire?

So…yeah. I probably wouldn’t be spending time moderating Threadiverse communities either if I had all that stuff going on in real life.

I’m sure I’ve seen someone asking this about a month ago or so. I don’t remember the answers unfortunately, but I wonder if you’ve already searched for a post about him

FlyingSquid was intolerant of opposing viewpoints. The kind of “wokeness” that made Trump win the presidency.

Alright bring on the downvotes. Do your worst.
