    And none of this matters because of by some miracle this fascist doesn’t fascist this country, the next, more competent fascist from the fascist party will take to where Trump left off because they’ll always vote the hard R.

      It’s all about emotions and in-group belonging. All of us are subject to that, to some extent. But for some people it’s the dominant force in their lives. I don’t know how to fix that, because it seems kind of deeply baked in.

        Maybe the left needs more flag waving and American exceptionalism. While dumb, it tickles the in-group need; if pageantry is enough to sway some large portion of the population towards a better future then maybe it’s worthwhile.
