The garbage in government absolutely fucking suck, but they’d NEVER get as far as they’ve gotten without the absolute scumbag, piece of shit, mercenary mouths at places like fox news, Newsmax, OANN, etc…

I hate Trump with every fiber of my being, but the propagandists like Sean Hannity, those fuckers I’d pay to see put to a firing squad. I fucking hate the propagandists more than ANYTHING. They turned society into what it is. They stoke and “rationalize” the hate so many express towards marginalized groups. They are the only reason we have to deal with Trump and the current GOP… They are why we can never have a government that actually tends to the needs of the people and to actually fairly tax the wealthy.

I wish hell was real so I could have some comfort in the fact that Ingram, Hannity and fucker Carlson would suffer for eternity.

interesting movie you should check out, God Bless America, directed by the inimitable Bobcat Goldthwait.

it’s a sort of dirtbag dark comedy blend of Falling Down meets Joe vs The Volcano. middle aged guy gets a terminal diagnosis and goes on a cross country rampage taking out right wing pundits. there’s a fair amount of poorly aged schlock and nostalgia fetishizing but the core premise is enough to make it worthwhile.

I have a firm secular belief that heaven could be made on earth if we all worked together.

On reflection I find we could probably also do a limited trial run of hell, for certain offenders.

False. He still meets the core conservative values of being white, blonde, straight, cisgender, and male. And “Christian”. But above all else, bigoted and anti-intellectual.

They are the values of paleoconservatism and should not be misused to represent conservatism in general. Perhaps you are listening to the angry mob instead of informing yourself, which is not a clever thing to do if you want a united country.

If conservatives had actual values, they’d be screaming as loud as the left. Some do, and did,.but Liz Cheney was chased out of Congress for doing what she felt was right.

Individual exceptions do not at all argue against the sad reality that “conservatism” is just regressive bigotry, and as such lacks any collective principle worth bothering to learn or debate.

Why should anyone take claims of “conservative values” seriously when they are routinely discarded whenever they stop being convenient?

We’ve seen when conservatives raised their voice, it happened after 9-11 and was directed at emigrants. Now we see it with trump.

What are your traditional conservative values? What are we conserving by not allowing gay people to get married? What are we conserving by denying man-made climate change and refusing to invest in green energy when it is so obviously and undeniably the future? What are we conserving by encouraging women to be thoughtless, subservient housewives? What are these core values that are so valuable?

Paleo-conservative is the bullshit peddled by people like Pat Buchanan. They overlap with the “the South will rise again!” people. They are not big fans of Jews. But the larger point stands, all the taxonomy around conservatism is a way to distract from the fascism.

Why ask me when you can find out yourself with a few clicks? Heaven forbid we take a second to improve, for sake of all this division we got going on. It’s even uniquely American, specific to the things you raise, and not well-loved by traditional conservatives for obvious reasons.

It’s that lack of pursuing knowledge that leaves 39% of Americans vulnerable to fallacies like, “this is conservative (paleoconservative ideals); you say you are conservative; therefore you are this” and of course they buy in.

                  Heh. “Make up”.

I know these things, yet you are the one that lives there. Thank you for underscoring what I have said. But based on your combative attitude, I’m sure none of it will get in. You are more likely to go on creating further division between you and your countrymen, as you die complaining about the consequences of a divided country.

It’s hard to overstate how little I care about conservative values, especially as demonstrated by the actions of politicians instead of what they say and write. Really, the current regime in the US is just the logical conclusion of what conservatives have already been doing for decades.

I tried to understand them. I really tried.

I spent way too many hours asking questions in good faith of Trump Supporters only to have them either lie or try to gaslight me.

      It’s absolutely insane.

There is no coming back for the GOP.

I have zero respect for them and they have zero credibility.

“Conservatism” was founded by literal monarchists. Trump represents the truest form of conservatism seen in the US since its founding (exceeding even the Nazis and Confederacy, at this point).

“The Confederacy” was such a shitshow and so short-lived that it barely constitutes a “confederacy” anymore than a “no girls allowed” sign kept their moms from finding their porn stash.

Political identites are fundamentally about group-belonging, not ethics or consistency.

Moreover, conservativism is just the modern term for aristocratic and aristocrats have always valued complete freedom for themselves and the enslavement of everyone below.
