  • A war with Iran would be disasterous.

The Iranians can temporarily distrupt traffic at the Strait of Hormuz which would cause oil prices to rise.

Saudi Arabia historically, had half of their oil supply severed temporarily due to an Iranian drone strike.

Iran has developed special assets capable of hitting Americans in a distance of 2,500 KM. Each and every American base in the region would be threatened with a strike.

A ground campaign would place American troops into disadvantageous terrain and would lead to massive losses, likely requiring a draft.

Iran’s coastline is made up of bays, inlets, coves, and islands, all of which can hide really nasty things.

Unlike the Iraqis, the Iranians are not so mindbogglingly incompetent as to be unable to use their sights (unlike the Iraqis which some of whom didn’t even know how to use the sights on their tanks for example, even less on how to use a tank’s more advanced features like infrared and FCS). The Iranians actually train somewhat realistically at times.

Unlike the Iraqis, the Iranians have a somewhat coherent defense plan:

“As enemy supply lines stretched into Iran’s interior, they would be vulnerable to interdiction by special stay-behind cells, which the IRGC has formed to harass enemy rear operations. The Artesh, a mix of armored, infantry and mechanized units, would constitute Iran’s initial line of defense against invading forces. IRGC troops would support this effort, but they would also form the core of popular resistance, the bulk of which would be supplied by the Basij, the IRGC’s paramilitary volunteer force. The IRGC has developed a wartime mobilization plan for the Basij, called the Mo’in Plan, according to which Basij personnel would augment regular IRGC units in an invasion scenario. IRGC and Basij exercises have featured simulated ambushes on enemy armored columns and helicopters. Much of this training has been conducted in an urban environment, suggesting that Iran intends to lure enemy forces into cities where they would be deprived of mobility and close air support. Iran has emphasized passive defense measures—techniques used to enhance the battlefield survivability —including camouflage, concealment and deception.”

Heck, the insurgency alone would “make the Afghan and Iraqi conflicts look like a walk in the park.”

  • If you remember, he tried not to by hinging it on a bogus investigation into Berisma

You are referring to something that happened in 2019, however Trump approved of two major arms sales to Ukraine during his last presidency prior to 2019. The latter sale in spring 2018 even included Javelin anti-tank missiles. Even the Obama administration refused to conduct such action against Putin.

he also discontinued all support later after presumably discarding Zelenskyy since he had nothing more to give the admin politically in an era of ally abandonment.

One of the reasons that Trump is having America betray Ukraine is because yes, Zelenskyy raised objections to Trump’s ask for help in finding dirt on Biden, and Trump was then impeached. Trump now has personal hatred for Zelenskyy which was worsened after that massive fuck up that was Zelenskyy’s visit to the White House.

Notably, all of this abandonment is good for Putin.

    It indeed is.

does not have either the ability or the will to reign in Putin, so the end result is virtually identical to treating him as an ally – except the added national embarassment of inconsistent messaging.

Inconsistent messaging is consistent with the Trump administration, no? But yes, Trump is ditching the tradition allies of America in favor of countries such as Orban’s Hungary and Putin’s Russia.

I do not believe that Trump is a puppet of Putin nor a Russian agent but yes, he benefits Russia.

In the end, the number 1 priority for Trump is… Trump.

He does not care about Ukraine nor does he care about Russia nor does he care about peace nor does he care about the American people but instead, cares about himself and his wallet.

  • Didnt they have a treaty saying they wouldnt invade if Ukraine gave up their nukes?

The Budapest Memorandum? The ‘agreement’ that was broken when the US sanctioned Belarus in 2013 which was in violation of the agreement and America’s only response was that the Memorandum is “not legally binding” and this action made it null and void in its entirety? Lol.

Not that it matters as in 2014, the legitimate government of Ukraine was taken down in a coup where far right Neo-Nazi elements of the maidan movement shot their own protestors in a false-flag operation, blamed this on the legitimate government in order to incite public backlash against Yanukovych, then overthrew the legitimate government and then proceeded to commit massacres.

The false flag operation has been confirmed by several hundred witness testimonies including wounded protestors, 2,000 videos, 6,000 photos, and 30 gigabytes of radio intercepts.
